lungomare goes to DOC DAYS

The fifth DOC DAY event curated by FAS Film Association engages in dialogue with lungomare!

Lungomare weaves its riverine path into the upcoming DOC DAY event, which will take place on Thursday, February 13, at 6:30 pm at the Filmclub in Bolzano. The event highlights the debut film by Virginia Eleuteri Serpieri, AMOR, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2023.

The program begins at 6:30 pm with a screening of the short film The Waters’ Tale, followed by a conversation between Virginia Eleuteri Serpieri, Angelika Burtscher, and Daniele Lupo on the theme “Rivers and Art.” The evening continues with the screening of AMOR at 8:00 pm, concluding with a talk with the director.

The Water’s Tale | Synopsis
Rome, 12 July 1998. My mother Teresa reaches Ponte Milvio, waits for dawn, and jumps into the river Tiber. From that moment, my city would no longer be the same for me. Today I have decided to lie on the river bed and hear the sound of the water.

Amor | Synopsis
“When I look at Rome, I see my mother. It’s been the case ever since she died.”
It’s a summer evening from many years ago: the city is empty, and the final of the soccer world championship is underway. A woman, Teresa, reaches the Tiber and lets herself go into the river. The abyss swallows her while Virginia, her daughter, travels through Rome in the dark of the night: she wants to find her and save her. Virginia must cross the depths of the waters, of history, the myths, the vital brightness and the disasters of a timeless Rome. Only then can she see her mother again, surfacing from the blackness of the Tiber, flying towards AMOR, “the planet of care”. Surrounded by water, its streets, squares, and fountains are reminiscent of those of Rome with animals roaming freely.
